Dear Mr. Kutcher:

It’s not often that we use our blog to make such a direct appeal to a single individual.  In fact, we’ve never done it before.  But over the past week, we – as in Iowa and the the entire “fly-over country” of America – have been under attack by what appears to be a good-humored, good-spirited, but misinformed marketing firm from somewhere along the East Coast.  They believe Iowa has no “social media game.”  They mock us for helping to put some of the world’s best food on their dinner plates every day.  And yes, they mock you by not even acknowledging the fact that one of the great sons of Iowa is also one of the most social-media savvy individuals in the world.

Thus, we are calling on you, personally, to help defend the great state of Iowa.   With your help, we’d like to demonstrate that the power of social media is alive and well all across the movie-going heartland of America!  We invite you to visit the world headquarters of one of the nation’s oldest advertising agencies – Lessing-Flynn Advertising in Des Moines, Iowa. We invite you to tweet just one tweet from our offices. With your 3 million followers, we believe you can help our blog be selected as “blog-of-the-month”, defeating our East Coast rivals.  A victory for the AdMavericks won’t just be a victory for us.  It’ll be a victory for the millions of Midwesterners who grew up just like you, ate corn-fed beef just like you, and who enjoy watching excellent movies that feature their own Midwestern siblings!
